The day started at 6:00 AM which is the only day on this trip which starts so early. The trip to Stockport School was so long that we had to leave the hostel at 7 AM, just to reach our destination at 8:45 AM, when the school day begins.

Everyone got one or two buddies, who showed them the school and helped them throughout the day. Isaac, Ethan, Bailey and Finn helped us.

We had a timetable, so that we could find the room at any time.

After an encouraging talk about the school year and the performance against the other schools, my school day started with an art and a cooking class.

Erik: I cooked a tasty burger with bread, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and meat in the school kitchen.

Gregor: I colored a bee design while the other students sewed bees into pillows. This is the symbol of Manchester and represents the hard workers.

After that we both had P.E. together with Ben. We were playing badminton. Fortunately we had already had it in our school before, so we didn’t look like beginners. The lesson was very chilled and the teachers were friendly. We had to play a game against them and even managed it quite well. We were surprised that the boys and girls had separate classes in P.E..

After a relaxing break we both visited an English class.

Erik: I thought that I would embarrass myself, because they are of course much better than me. But as I noticed, they haven’t even done grammar tasks. It reminded me more of a history lesson. Because we talked mostly about Nelson Mandela and the fight against apartheid.

The fourth lesson was a Chemistry lesson.

We noticed the problem, that we didn’t know the technical terms. We bespoke a test, but the whole class was really busy and our backround knowledge was missing. So we couldn’t take part in it.

In the one-hour long lunch break we had a free school lunch and played board games in Mrs Robinson’s classroom. This was quite surprising, because here the teachers all have their own room, whilst in Germany, every class has their own room.

The final lesson was Maths. But we were in different rooms. The class was much more restless than before.

Erik: I visited a lesson about mathematic terms as a square and in a paragraph. Unfortunately, I didn’t understand it

Gregor: My Maths lesson was actually pretty good. I didn’t really understand the language, but the exercises were easy.

We ended the day by reflecting on our experiences together and then took the train back to the youth hostel.
