We‘re a group of 22 students from year 8 & 9 at the Freies Christliches Gymnasium, Düsseldorf.

After months of preparation, we‘re finally here in Manchester and experiencing British culture!

We‘re looking forward to meeting our partner school in Stockport for two days and getting to know the teachers and pupils there.

On the following pages, you can find our reports of what has happened every day. Keep checking back to keep up with our progress!

Differences we‘ve noticed between the UK and Germany:

Ronja: The traffic lights are different. No-one here cares about whether the traffic lights are red. There are special lights for pedestrians, but I don‘t like them because I prefer to look over the street to see if I can go.

Ben: People cross the road at red lights!

Laurenz: The people here are more polite. We asked some policemen if we could do an interview with them. They couldn‘t do it, but they weren‘t unfriendly - they apologized that they couldn‘t do it and gave us tips about what we could do instead.

Erfan: Most of the people here seem to smoke. I think you find more cigarettes on the ground than people!

Tom: The prices are different. We found animés for £20 which are 70€ in Germany, but food here seems to be more expensive.

Perla: But the shops have meal deals, that‘s something that we don‘t have!
